Excellent points! Supporting a loved one with mental illness is extremely challenging, as it is very difficult for a loved one to give the sufferer space in particular for a high-strung, type A personality who likes to be able to be in control. It is hard to go against the urge to want to "fix" and control a problem that ultimately cannot be "controlled" by others. The work that needs to be done for mental health recovery is ultimately inner work that cannot be done by anyone other than the individual who is struggling. That is why I so very much liked the first quote I included: "Just because no one else can heal you or do your inner work for you, doesn't mean you can, should, or need to do it alone."
